Welcome to the happy film company
We're so happy you're here. Let's make happy memories!
Let me tell ya how it started...
Hi, I’m Chamonix! I am the owner & lead photographer at the Happy Film Company. I started tHFC in 2013 on the beaches of Maui (while I was working as a photographer at another studio). I was so excited to run my own business and I wanted to do something nobody else was doing...family videos! Pictures trigger memories but videos trigger feelings! Although everyone gets professional videos for their weddings but nobody was doing filming families.
I can’t tell you how many hours I spent doodling business plans on napkins in the corner of the Kihei Starbucks (freezing in the air-con), furiously trying to create a business plan. I would lie under palm trees on my weekends, zooming through business books learning how to build a business bigger than myself - a team of artists who would inspire each other and offer something totally new to families. I moved home to Seattle in 2014 and unleashed tHFC on the world!
In the company's first 3 years, I build a glorious team of creative women and a growing family of clients. We are the leading specialists in family videos, averaging 20-40 shoots each month! At the end of 2016, we downsized the company to minimal staff so we could preserve financial resources and elevate quality.
I am so proud of my sweet company and it is my intention to make sure that we stay down to earth, passionate about our artwork, and genuinely excited to work with every family we meet. As my business grows each year, I constantly remind myself and my team that this business exists as a humble and happy celebration of family love, childhood playfulness and all the beautiful light that we see in this world.
I'm so happy you're a part of making my dreams come true and I hope we can become a special part of your life too. Welcome to the family! :) // Chamonix

ADVICE FROM OTHER FAMILIES
- Keep Kids Happy with Treats: Keep treats handy (baby cereal puffs came to our rescue!) and/or their favorite toy that could be incorporated into the photo.
- Write a List of Ways You Play with Your Kids before your shoot. For example, throwing them in the air, singing songs, collecting rocks etc... When you're in front of the camera you'll feel more prepared with fresh ideas for interacting and getting your kids to smile & laugh.
